PHARMACY DEPARTMENT
Overview
The Pharmacy Department is committed to delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care to both inpatients and outpatients. This includes ensuring the availability of quality medicines and medical devices, cost-effective services, patient education, confidentiality, proper storage and dispensing, rational use of medicines, and high client satisfaction. The department serves an average of 530 patients daily, with 330 outpatients and 200 inpatients. Its organizational structure comprises the central drug store, local production unit, drug information unit, outpatient units, inpatient unit, theatre pharmacies, and dialysis pharmacy. The staff includes pharmacists, pharmaceutical technicians, and health attendants.
This Department has an obligation to ensure provision of high quality pharmaceutical care services to both inpatients and outpatients attending the hospital. This is by ensuring;
- Availability of quality medicines and medical devices
- Cost effectiveness of the services
- Patients/clients education with reference to the provided services
- Confidentiality of clients
- Proper storage and dispensing of medicines and medical devices
- Rational use of medicines
- Clients satisfaction on the provided services
On average the Pharmacy department attends about 530 patients per day on week days that is 330 out patients and 200 inpatients.
