Overview

The Pediatric and Child Health Department at MNH-Mloganzila offers specialized and superspecialized inpatient and outpatient services across three wards: General Pediatrics, Neonatal (NICU), and Kangaroo Mother Care. The General Pediatrics ward, located on the 5th floor, has a 54-bed capacity and provides care across various pediatric subspecialties. The Neonatal ward, on the 2nd floor, is equipped with 46 beds (16 incubators, 30 cots) and offers intensive care for newborns with conditions such as low birth weight and congenital anomalies. The Kangaroo Mother Care ward on the 4th floor supports the continuum of care for premature infants with an 18-bed capacity and conducts follow-up clinics. Outpatient services are available daily on the 1st floor, addressing common pediatric issues and follow-ups for discharged patients. Comprehensive ward rounds and evening rounds are conducted daily by a multidisciplinary team, ensuring continuous patient care. The department also emphasizes training and education, hosting CME sessions, clinical meetings, and various training programs for medical students and professionals.

PEDIATRIC AND CHILD HEALTH DEPARTMENT

Department of Paediarics and child health have both specialized and superspecialised inpatient services and outpatient services.

The Department have three wards:

1.1 General Paediaric ward

1.2 Neonatal ward/NICU

Services provided in the neonatal unit/NICU include:

  1. Care of low birth weight babies including premature and small for gestational age babies who may be normal or sick.
  2. Normal term babies whose mothers are sick or not able to care for the babies.
  3. Babies with birth asphyxia and congenital anomalies.
  4. Babies with infections eg. pneumonia, septicemia, meningitis etc.
  5. Babies with other complications of new born.
